Just for SharePoint Site Managers
Overview
Many people are given the responsibility of being a SharePoint Site Manager and need help after getting the basic sites, lists and libraries created. In this series, 'Just for SharePoint Site Manager', we'll give you three hands-on sessions that will implement solutions that can make an immediate difference in your site and how users interact with the information on your site.
- March 2, 2010 - SharePoint WSS Dashboards
- March 3, 2010 - Default Workflows in SharePoint
- March 4, 2010 - Create a SharePoint Multi-Media Resource Center
Each workshop is fully hands-on, including your own SharePoint sandbox for implementing the solutions, all of the resources and materials needed to implement the solutions, and access to an on-demand recording of the entire session when you need to review.
Purchasing the entire series of three workshops saves you $58.00 and guarantees you a seat in each of the sessions. All workshops are delivered live, online through your computer where you will be able to see the presenters desktop as well as hear the session over your computer speakers or headphones.
Detailed descriptions of each of the workshops are shown below. We look forward to seeing you at the next set of EUSP Live Online Workshops.

SharePoint WSS Dashboards
March 2, 2010 - 1:00pm EST
The lack of Excel Services in WSS makes it difficult to create usable dashboards to help analyze information in a glance. There are alternatives, however, that can be implemented by a site manager or Power User without recourse to third party solutions and web parts.
Workshop Overview
In this live online, hands-on session, dashboard parts will be created and installed in your own, private SharePoint sandbox provided by EndUserSharePoint.com. Solutions covered in this workshop include:
- The Graphics Menu
- Random Quote Generator
- My Task Assignments with Visual Status Bars and High Priority Markers
- List Web Part with Paging Mechanism
- Expansion and Contraction of Data within a Report Library
- Quote of the Day
- Contact Information
- Embed Analysis Images in Reporting Lists
At the conclusion of this workshop, you will have all the resources and knowledge needed to create and implement all of the web parts shown. In addition, the presentation will be recorded and available for viewing immediately after the workshop.

This is the first workshop in a three part series 'Just for SharePoint Site Managers Only'. You do not have to take the other workshop in order to take this one... they are all stand-alone solutions.
Who is this for?
This workshop is aimed at Site Administrators and Power Users looking for techniques to add additional functionality to their SharePoint pages without having access to the SharePoint server. All solutions can be implemented with Site Manager level permissions in the SharePoint 2003 and 2007 environments.
Default Workflows in SharePoint
March 3, 2010 - 1:00pm EST
There are many instances in the workplace where documents are emailed around, printed, or hand delivered for approval or feedback. Automating these existing processes can greatly enhance the workload on the people who have to coordinate the process.
Workshop Overview
SharePoint comes with default workflows build in. These workflows can be attached at the document level, the list/library level and even at the content type level. In this workshop you will get hands-on experience in setting up and managing the SharePoint default workflows.
We'll take a look at how the workflow is automatically documented through the workflow history. We'll also examine how workflow can be used to automate the feedback and approval processes that already exist in-house.
The solutions in this workshop can be done by anyone with Site Manager permission without the use of SharePoint Designer.
Who is this for?
This workshop is aimed at site administrators and power users who need to manage and display graphical information in their SharePoint site.
This is the second workshop in a three part series 'Just for SharePoint Site Managers Only'. You do not have to take the other workshops in order to take this one... they are all stand-alone solutions.
Create a SharePoint Multi-Media Resource Center
March 4, 2010 - 1:00pm EST
We do a lot of screencasts at EndUserSharePoint.com and I frequently get requests on how to create multi-media that is distributed through SharePoint. In this two hour, hands-on workshop, we will build a multi-media distribution template that will help you store, manage and access screencasts and videos for universal distribution throughout your company.
This is the third workshop in a three part series 'Just for SharePoint Site Managers Only'. You do not have to take the other workshops in order to take this one... they are all stand-alone solutions.
Workshop Overview
In this live online workshop, you create a multi-media management center that stores your screencasts and allows easy access through the SharePoint interface. This solution works in WSS as well as MOSS. Along the way, we'll talk about how to store large video files and access them through a customized SharePoint list. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will have the tools, resources and expertise needed to construct a fully functioning, multi-media management center on your company's SharePoint site.
The workshop includes:
- A SharePoint sandbox for you to implement the solution
- Web parts for implementing the solution
- LyteBox for displaying screencasts and videos in a transparent window
- Step-by-step, downloadable instructions
- Live, hands-on instruction
- On-demand recording of the session with 24/7 access
